Best places to live – Surrey Hills
Stretching from Frensham (near Farnham), to Tatsfield (near Oxted), the Surrey Hills is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty covering around a quarter of the county, making it, I feel, one of the best places to live. The area has a wealth of restaurants, shops, cafes and art galleries, and the picturesque villages are a popular spot for walking and cycling.
Its close proximity to London makes the Surrey Hills ideal for commuters craving green space whilst benefitting from easy access to the city. The area is diverse, meaning that buyers are able to find something to suit their specific needs with ease – Whether that’s a lively town or a more relaxing secluded spot away from the hustle and bustle.
Guildford is my top suggestion, as it has the charm of a university town, a thriving business park that’s home to many multinationals and the famous castle in the heart of the town centre. It’s a perfect compromise for families and young professionals moving away from London who don’t want to sacrifice the buzz of city living.
The Surrey Hills is expansive and as such there are a wealth of alternative market towns to choose from such as:
- Farnham
- Reigate
- Dorking
Each with their own picturesque villages like:
- Dogmersfield
- Shalford
- Brockham
- Capel
It’s fair to say that you are never far from an unspoilt far reaching, an amazing walk with beautiful landscapes or a quaint historical public house. There really is something for everyone.
